IFAU seeks junior researchers for one or two postdoctoral positions in economics

Would you like to contribute to positive social development through policy-relevant research? IFAU is looking for recent PhD graduates to fill one or two postdoctoral positions in economics.

Job description

As a postdoctoral researcher at IFAU, you will conduct independent research in the fields of labour market, education and social insurance and contribute to the long-term development of the knowledge base in accordance with our mission.  There are no teaching duties and you will have access to Swedish administrative microdata, the opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects at IFAU and the freedom to pursue your own research.

IFAU researchers regularly publish in international scientific journals and communicate their research findings to target audiences in Sweden. As a postdoctoral researcher at IFAU, you will work with dedicated colleagues to conduct research and build the knowledge base according to the highest international standards.

The postdoctoral position is designed to give you an early opportunity to establish your independence as a researcher after completing your PhD.
The employment offered is part of our work to ensure the future supply of skills and competencies for IFAU.

Required qualifications

  • A recent PhD in economics. Please note that this requirement must be fulfilled at the latest by the time the employment decision is made. You are eligible for the position if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years prior to the application deadline (if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier, according to the Swedish regulation on temporary employment for postdoctoral fellows).
  • Research in one of the research areas with strong relevance to IFAU's mission.
  • Proven experience in empirical research, especially with microdata.
  • High academic potential and an interest in conducting independent research.
  • Good knowledge of English language, both written and spoken.

We value interpersonal skills and in particular your ability to work effectively in a research environment.

Desirable qualifications

  • Academic publications. Your achievements will be assessed in relation to the time that has elapsed since your doctorate.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining international research networks
  • Good knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language, both written and spoken.

Type and duration of employment

The employment offered is for one or two full-time temporary (fixed-term) positions of 3 years each, with the possibility of extension for special reasons (following the Swedish regulation on temporary employment for post-doctoral fellows). The first day of employment is flexible and subject to agreement
