Schools and students in disadvantaged areas

This project examines how schools and students are affected when their residential area or school is included in the police’s list of disadvantaged areas. Each time this list is published, it generates significant media attention, which risks contributing to the stigmatisation of these areas. Theoretically, this could influence both the sorting of students and teachers between schools. Despite this, there is a lack of empirical studies on how ”territorial stigmatization“ impacts individual outcomes.
